Celebrating the 79th anniversary of the success of the August Revolution

Every August 19, we proudly celebrate the success of the August Revolution, marking one of the most brilliant milestones in the history of Vietnam’s struggle for national independence. The August Revolution was not only a victory of patriotism and the indomitable will of the entire nation, but also a testament to the ingenious leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.

The great journey of the nation

In August 1945, in the face of the complicated world situation, under the leadership of the Party, our people rose up to fight and regain control from the French colonialists and Japanese fascists. In just a short time, our people rose up and carried out a general uprising across the country, taking power back into the hands of the people. On August 19, 1945, the uprising in Hanoi was a resounding victory, creating momentum to spread and encourage other localities to quickly gain victory.

Historical significance

The success of the August Revolution opened a new page in the history of the Vietnamese nation, ending thousands of years of feudalism and colonialism, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam – the first worker-peasant state in Southeast Asia. This is also a testament to the spirit of solidarity, indomitable will and deep patriotism of our people.
